Whether you’re looking to start therapy for the first time or deciding it's time for you to return, it's a big deal. With all the different therapy approaches and practitioners, it can be daunting to decide the next step and whether I will be a good fit. I hope to give you an idea of what our time together might be like. I offer free 20-minute consultations to engage in a conversation about what you're looking for and answer any questions you may have.
I am eager to learn about what is important to you and what brings you to therapy. My job is to help you uncover and work through the ways you find yourself stuck that make your life more challenging and difficult. I hope I am humble enough to know that I am not the expert in your life with all the answers and solutions. Rather, I work with you increase and strengthen your own agency and resiliency through the ups and downs in your life.
I primarily approach our work together within a somatically integrated Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) framework. EMDR is a structured and established therapy that focuses on a traumatic memory while using bilateral stimulation to help decrease the intensity associated with the memory. By integrating a somatic emphasis to therapy, I believe we are better positioned to notice and work through painful experiences, thoughts, beliefs, emotions, physical sensations and patterns of behavior that tend to mess us up. By increasing your awareness of the ways this happens, it becomes possible to work through the ways you get stuck and move towards a sense of completion. As you feel less stuck in the past, you have more space for self-fulfillment and compassion.
I offer individual one-hour sessions, either in-person or virtual. If desired, longer sessions can be arranged.
